Organizational Design Workshop

A two day workshop to define your product and design your org

Day 1 - Define your product(s)

The goal of day 1 is to define the product(s) through exploring the following questions:
  • Is the product definition too narrow?
  • Are your products organized around the customer/users or components?
  • Why does your product exist?
  • What problem does the product solve?
  • Who are paying customers and users?
  • How does your product fulfill the needs of the customer?
  • How will we know the product succeeded?
  • Who will drive vision and strategy of the product?
  • What features will the product support?
  • What is the first release?

Day 2 - Design your organization

The outcomes from day 1 will drive the discussion on day 2 and answer the key question: "How can we best organize to successfully deliver the product and maximize the value to our customers"
  • What is the system optimization goal of the org design?
  • Determine where you are in the product cycle curve
  • Identify organizational constraints:Identify all groups and components within the product boundaries, Departmental constraints, System constraints, Cultural constraints
  • Design ideal organization and system optimization goal
  • Decide where to start
  • The Next 6 months: Produce CAN Goal, Constrain the goal, Understand culture and org debt through Behavior stories, Derive outcome measures, Generate Organization expirements
